Central Bank of Oman is seeking to recruit competent, committed, self-motivated and enthusiastic Omani candidate for the following position.
Purpose
The Financial Risk Specialist is responsible for identifying, measuring, monitoring, and reporting financial risks affecting the organization. This includes market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, interest rate risk, and foreign exchange risk. The role supports the development and implementation of financial risk management frameworks, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and provides analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report financial risks across the organization.
- Analyze credit, market, liquidity, and interest rate risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Develop and maintain financial risk models, methodologies, and risk measurement tools.
- Monitor risk limits and escape breaches in accordance with the organization's risk appetite.
- Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Prepare regular financial risk reports and dashboards for senior management and risk committees.
- Monitor key financial risk indicators (KRIs) and emerging risk trends.
- Review investment portfolios, treasury activities, and financing arrangements from a risk perspective.
- Support the development and periodic review of financial risk policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Participate in budgeting, capital planning, and financial forecasting by providing risk analysis.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal financial risk policies.
- Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Investments, Compliance, Internal Audit, and business units.
- Support risk assessments for new financial products, investments, and strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to the enhancement of enterprise risk management practices.
Minimum and Experience Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Risk Management, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage.
- Professional certifications such as FRM, PRM, CFA, or CPA are preferred.
- 5–7 years of experience in financial risk management, treasury, banking, investment management, corporate finance, or enterprise risk management.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of operational risk management frameworks.
- Understanding of RCSA, KRIs.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and governance frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) systems is an advantage.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
