Job Description
Job Summary

The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for supporting the finance department in managing the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and assisting in the preparation of financial reports. This role involves overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, assisting with budget preparation, and contributing to strategic financial planning. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to facilitate coordination with various departments.

  1. Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  2. Help generate weekly and monthly management reports to provide insights on financial performance and operational efficiency.
  3. Contribute to the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to gather financial data and assumptions.
  4. Assist in preparing financial forecasts and variance analyses to identify trends and make recommendations for action.
  5. Support the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.
  6. Review and reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, and other financial records.
  7. Ensure compliance with hotel policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  8. Assist in the implementation and monitoring of internal controls to safeguard hotel assets and maintain the integrity of financial information.
  9. Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement in revenue management and cost control.
  10. Provide financial insights and business advice to department heads to help achieve departmental and hotel-wide financial goals.
  11. Work closely with the Finance Manager and other team members to ensure accuracy and timeliness in all financial operations.
  12. Train and mentor junior finance staff and cross-functional team members on financial processes and systems.
Qualifications Required
  • Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in finance or accounting within the hospitality industry or a similar environment, with at least 1-2 years in a relevant role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software (Opera, Sun System) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with various departments.
