Job summary

Oman Investment Authority's MDO seeks a field-oriented Principal Geologist to lead exploration for copper-gold, chromite and related base metals in Oman’s underexplored complexes. This is a hands-on role with field mapping, drilling supervision and mentoring of local geologists.

The successful candidate will spend substantial time in the field, ensure data integrity and contribute to scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies, while supporting BD and PD teams across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences is essential.
• MSc/PhD in Economic Geology or Mineral Exploration strongly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years post-graduate experience in mineral exploration with increasing responsibility.
• At least 7 years of field-based experience with proven targets progressing to drill testing and resource definition.

Responsibilities

• Lead field exploration activities ensuring safety, data quality and on-site discipline.
• Undertake geological mapping at prospect to district scale, including structural and alteration mapping.
• Design and supervise sampling programmes with full chain of custody.
• Supervise RC and diamond drilling campaigns with logging, orientation, and sampling.
• Maintain QA/QC processes and validated data in corporate databases.
