Job summary

ZL Group is a global specialty chemicals company serving the oil and gas sector, with operations in Oman. We seek a Facilities Engineer to provide process and facilities leadership across design, execution, commissioning and field operations in Oman.

You will be the in-country technical anchor for process engineering, leading HAZOP studies, reviewing engineering packages, supporting tenders, and mentoring the operations team on projects from design through startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering.
• 8–10 years in process or facilities engineering.
• Experience leading HAZOP reviews.
• Experience developing SOPs and engineering documentation.
• Strong communication across engineering teams, clients, and field personnel.
• Experience working with GCC operators and clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide process and facilities engineering support across ongoing and future projects.
• Review engineering designs, process documentation, and technical packages from engineering partners.
• Lead and facilitate HAZOP studies and risk assessments, and drive action closeout.
• Participate in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Troubleshoot engineering and operational issues using root-cause analysis.
• Provide technical input and engineering reviews for tenders and client proposals.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and engineering documentation standards.
• Mentor junior engineers, operators, and field personnel, and deliver technical training.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a Facilities Engineer to provide process and facilities engineering leadership across project design, execution, commissioning, and field operations in Oman. You will be the in-country technical anchor for our process engineering capability — leading HAZOP studies, reviewing engineering packages, supporting tenders, and mentoring the operations team.

This is a hands‑on technical role with real ownership: you will work directly with GCC operators, engineering partners, and our field crews on projects from design through startup.

What You’ll Do

• Provide process and facilities engineering support across ongoing and future projects.
• Review engineering designs, process documentation, and technical packages from engineering partners.
• Lead and facilitate HAZOP studies and risk assessments, and drive action closeout.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities.
• Troubleshoot engineering and operational issues using systematic root‑cause analysis.
• Provide technical input and engineering reviews for tenders and client proposals.
• Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and engineering documentation standards.
• Mentor junior engineers, operators, and field personnel, and deliver technical training.

What You’ll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8–10 years in process or facilities engineering — production facilities, water treatment, EOR, or oil and gas operations.
• Demonstrated experience taking complex engineering projects from design through startup and operation.
• Proven experience leading or facilitating HAZOP reviews.
• Experience developing SOPs, work instructions, and operational documentation.
• Strong communication skills across engineering teams, clients, and field personnel.
• Ability to influence technical decisions and drive organizational improvement.
• Experience working with GCC operators and clients.

Nice to Have

• Advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
• Background in enhanced oil recovery, produced water management, or oilfield chemical applications.
