Qualifications

• 7+ years experience as a cable design engineer with a Diploma.

Job Description

As part of the Technical team, responsible for ensuring the most competitive and appropriate cable designs for each situation, considering OCI’s needs and capabilities, and the customers’ needs.

Key Deliverables

PRE ORDER

• Cooperate with the marketing team in responding timeously to customer enquiries for cables.
• Understand the technical requirements of the customer in terms of cable and design the cable as per requirements.
• Analyse the customer needs to understand the requirements as per OCI technical feasibility and provide feedback to marketing team accordingly.
• Identify all aspects requiring clarification and participate in technical communications and meetings with customers to ensure the customers’ needs can be met and will be met.
• Prepare raw material specifications as and when required.
• Provide the necessary technical data sheets to customers upon request.
• Prepare and upload design sheets / BOMs for raw materials required for cable production in the ERP for use by financial and marketing teams.
• Coordinate with R&D for development and with QC for additional testing as needed.
• Ensure daily activities are distributed among team members.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Perform design calculations using tools like CYMCAP, including cable sizing, ampacity, and short circuit rating.

POST ORDER

• Perform contract review after order confirmation to clarify and finalize ambiguities in purchase orders through the marketing department.
• Prepare the CA Family, Item codes, and CMS (Cable Manufacturing Specification) according to the purchase order and transfer information to the production team.
• Generate information required for MES as needed.
• Review CMSs prepared by Design Engineers before sending to production.
• Prepare designs suitable for MES operation.
• Collaborate with the New Product Development, Material & Lab, Operations & Procurement teams.
• Lead activities related to CSI, DTC, and Sustainability.
• Act as substitute manager when necessary.

Job Profile

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical engineering.

Skills/Knowledge

• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and CYMCAP.
• Knowledge of Fictitious calculation and Bill of Material calculation for LV, MV, and Instrumentation cables.
• Understanding of cable manufacturing and design for various cables in accordance with IEC, BS, HD, AUS/NZ standards.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in an international environment.
• Ability to work independently and perform under pressure.
• Decision-making skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Experience

• Degree: 5+ years as a cable design engineer.
• Diploma: 7+ years as a cable design engineer.

Business Understanding

• Knowledge of costing software.
• Familiarity with software for cable designing.
• Understanding of cables used in Oil & Gas, Power Grids, and Renewable sectors.
• Ability to study and analyze cable market trends.
