NES Fircroft is seeking a Cost Control Lead to join a major operator in Oman for a significant LNG project. The role involves supporting the Project Control team during the execution phase, ensuring efficient management of project cost documentation and supporting the project team in all cost control matters. The candidate will contribute to delivering the project on time and within budget, maintaining strict confidentiality throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Budget
- Participate in project budget preparation
- Coordinate detailed budget issues with project team input
- Provide ad-hoc support as needed
Cost Reporting
- Prepare cost control reports
- Assist in cost trend analysis
- Monitor and assess commitments, variations, and work value
Cost Control
- Monitor and control project expenditures
- Manage commitments data and allocate to budgets
- Verify invoices and cash calls from contractors and vendors
- Prepare cash flow estimates and final forecasts
- File cost control documents according to the filing system
- Administer RFS full process (open, register, analyze, control, report, close)
- Prepare and monitor AFE’s and estimate changes
- Develop Work Breakdown and Cost Breakdown Structures
- Establish cost control procedures and monitor contingency usage
- Support the project team with cost guidance
- Maintain costing methodology aligned with project standards
Invoicing
- Implement efficient invoicing processes across locations
- Monitor invoices in coordination with the accounting department for timely payments
Activities
- Adhere to HSE standards and implement HSSE rules
- Lead and coordinate the Cost Control team activities
- Propose improvements to cost coding structures
- Participate in budget preparation, review, and updates
- Approve invoices in accordance with procedures and requirements
- Contribute to UNISUP system updates regarding payments and cost control
- Prepare cost information for stakeholders and authorities
- Identify cost trends, variances, and update the Final Cost Estimate
- Coordinate with Oman Finance Department on cost and accounting matters
- Maintain confidentiality of all cost documentation
- Prepare and present reports internally and externally
- Update and improve cost control methods and procedures
- Report progress and issues to the Lead Engineer
- Analyze deviations and recommend solutions
- Gather lessons learned and support professional development in cost engineering
Experience & Qualifications
- 15+ years of professional experience, with 10+ in project cost control, preferably in Oil & Gas
- Experience in supervisory roles and fabrication/construction yards
- Degree in Accounting, Engineering, or related field
- High proficiency in SAP, Excel, PowerPoint, and systems management
- Fluent in English and French
