Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Portfolio Management Associate is responsible for maximizing the performance, reliability, and lifecycle of an organization s physical assets. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and improving the effectiveness of assets through the implementation of performance management strategies, ensuring that equipment and systems operate efficiently while reducing costs and downtime.
Key Accountabilities:
Performance Monitoring & Analysis:
Track and analyze the operational and financial performance of portfolio assets against defined KPIs (e.g., IRR, ROI, EBITDA, uptime, efficiency).
Support the Manager in preparing asset performance dashboards, variance analyses, and risk assessments.
Assist in identifying value creation opportunities and underperformance indicators.
Asset Lifecycle Planning & Business Planning:
Contribute to the preparation of asset lifecycle management plans, business plans, and capital improvement proposals.
Coordinate the annual business planning process with subsidiaries, ensuring timely submission and compliance with group standards.
Assist in tracking capex projects, asset upgrades, and divestment readiness metrics.
Support the consolidation and formatting of financial forecasts, operational assumptions, and strategic inputs.
Coordinate data input for asset classification (e.g., core, growth, divestment-ready).
Data Management & Reporting:
Maintain performance databases and portfolio monitoring tools.
Support the Manager in producing reports and insights for Asset Management reviews and Board submissions.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting from portfolio companies is logged, reviewed, and escalated as necessary.
Use data analytics to forecast asset performance, assess risk, and guide decision-making.
Exit Strategy & Transaction Support:
Assist in gathering, organizing, and analyzing data required for asset valuation, divestment readiness assessments, and exit strategy planning.
Support the Manager and Director in the preparation of transaction-related documentation, including data rooms, deal summaries, and performance history packs.
Coordinate with legal and finance teams to compile inputs for Term Sheets, Share Purchase Agreements (SPAs), and Conditions Precedent (CPs).
Liaise with consultants and external advisors during due diligence and transaction execution phases, ensuring timely information flow.
Track post-transaction actions and integration outcomes where applicable, reporting deviations and learnings.
Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Coordination:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, engineering, and supply chain, to ensure effective asset performance management.
Liaise with portfolio company teams to support implementation of performance initiatives.
Coordinate with legal, finance, and strategy departments to ensure data and actions are aligned with governance protocols.
Support interaction with consultants for data gathering, due diligence, and asset analysis where required.
Engage with external vendors and contractors to ensure the availability of parts, services, and expertise needed for optimal asset performance.
Investment Process
Supporting the screening and initial evaluation of new investment opportunities that align with the group s strategic objectives and portfolio themes.
Assisting in the development of financial models, sensitivity analyses, and investment feasibility assessments.
Conducting market research, benchmarking, and commercial due diligence under the guidance of the Investment Team.
Contributing to the preparation of investment memos, presentation decks, and internal documentation for Investment Committee reviews.
Supporting data room setup, transaction documentation gathering, and liaison with consultants or legal/financial advisors.
Ensuring all work adheres to confidentiality protocols and aligns with investment governance processes.
Applying insights from current asset performance to assess post-investment risks, synergies, and integration considerations.
Other Duties
Undertake any additional responsibilities or strategic assignments as directed by management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economic, or a related field.
A master s degree is a plus.
Professional certifications in CFA / ACCA are preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience in investment analysis, asset management, or a related field.
Proven experience in asset performance analysis, tracking key metrics such as IRR, ROI, EBITDA, and utilization to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
Skilled in financial modeling and analyzing financial statements to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Proficient in validating business plans, budgets, and performance forecasts in line with group-level standards.
Strong knowledge of data management and reporting tools, including Excel, Power BI, and portfolio monitoring platforms.
Well-versed in supporting transactions through data room setup, due diligence coordination, and preparation of Term Sheets and Conditions Precedent (CP) trackers.
Sound understanding of governance principles, regulatory compliance, and board reporting requirements.
Familiar with ERP systems and project management tools for capital expenditure tracking and asset-level reporting
