The Duty Engineer is responsible for maintaining and ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel’s engineering systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and other mechanical equipment. This role involves timely troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs to provide guests with a safe, comfortable, and high-quality environment.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
  • Monitor, inspect, and maintain all hotel engineering equipment and systems (HVAC, boilers, chillers, electrical panels, plumbing, elevators, fire alarm systems, etc.)
  • Respond promptly to engineering-related emergencies and guest requests to ensure minimal disruption
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs according to schedules and manufacturers’ recommendations
  • Conduct daily rounds and inspections of the hotel premises to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Keep accurate logs and reports of maintenance work, incidents, and engineering activities
  • Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized repairs or inspections
  • Ensure compliance with local health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Assist in managing energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives within the hotel
  • Provide technical support to other hotel departments as needed
  • Maintain inventory of engineering supplies and equipment
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Proven experience as a Duty Engineer or in a similar engineering/maintenance role within a hotel or commercial facility
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manuals
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Relevant technical certification or diploma preferred (e.g., Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, HVAC certification)
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance management systems and reporting
