Job summary

Parsons is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design management function for a large-scale mixed-use development project. The successful candidate will have a strong Civil/Structural Engineering background and extensive experience in construction supervision environments.

This senior role requires coordinating architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and related design packages, ensuring design excellence, constructability, and seamless coordination with clients,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
• Master's degree is preferred for senior leadership.
• Professional Engineering registration or chartership is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate design management for large-scale mixed-use development.
• Supervise multidisciplinary design/drafting teams and review packages.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and client specifications.
• Drive design reviews, VE initiatives, and constructability assessments.
• Manage design consultants, performance, and schedules.
• Coordinate with construction teams to resolve design issues.
• Lead workshops and stakeholder meetings with clients and contractors.
• Review submittals, changes, RFIs, and proposals.
• Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies related to design.

Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead and coordinate the design management function for a large-scale mixed-use development project. The successful candidate will have a strong Civil/Structural Engineering background , extensive experience in construction supervision environments, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary design teams through all project phases. This role requires a strategic leader who can ensure design excellence, technical compliance, constructability, and seamless coordination between clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Lead and manage all design activities for large mixed-use developments, ensuring alignment with project objectives, schedules, and budgets.
• Supervise and provide direction to multidisciplinary design and drafting teams on complex projects.
• Review and coordinate architectural, structural, civil, MEP, infrastructure, and landscaping design packages.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, authority requirements, and client specifications.
• Drive design reviews, value engineering initiatives, and constructability assessments.
• Manage design consultants and monitor performance, deliverables, and schedules.
• Coordinate closely with construction supervision teams to resolve design-related issues during project execution.
• Lead technical workshops and stakeholder meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Review technical submittals, design changes, RFIs, and engineering proposals.
• Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies related to design and engineering matters.
• Ensure quality, completeness, and consistency of all design deliverables.
• Support project leadership in achieving project milestones and successful project delivery.

What Required Skills You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
• Professional Engineering registration or chartership is an advantage.
• Minimum 15+ years of experience in design and construction projects.
• Minimum 5 years in a Design Manager or Design Leadership role on major developments.
• Proven experience working on large mixed-use, urban development, hospitality, commercial, residential, or mega-projects .
• Strong background in construction supervision projects and design management during execution phases.
• Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary consultant teams and complex stakeholder interfaces.
• Excellent knowledge of international design standards and engineering best practices.
• Strong communication, leadership, and client management skills.

What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:

• Experience delivering complex mixed-use developments comprising residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, and public realm components.
• Strong understanding of structural systems, constructability, and design coordination.
