Job summary

Dr Sulaiman AlHabib Medical Centers in Oman is seeking a qualified Radiologist to perform diagnostic procedures and interpret radiological examinations. You will be responsible for maintaining quality management systems and support training initiatives within the department.

The ideal candidate should be a graduate of a recognized Medical School with postgraduate qualifications and at least three years of experience in the specialty. This role offers opportunities to enhance patient care and support quality improvement programs.

Job Purpose / Objective

Perform diagnostic procedures, interpret radiographs, ultrasound, CT and MRI images, and perform interventional procedures within the limits of the assigned privileges.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

• Support regular performance development reviews to identify training needs, set and monitor objectives aligned with individual and overall goals.
• Ensure the department’s quality management system is developed and maintained.
• Ensure appropriate risk management processes and documents are in place in line with policies and procedures.
• Implement provision of radiation protection services, ensuring appropriate expertise and safety advice to users of radiation.
• Implement measurements of equipment performance and quality assurance on diagnostic equipment in line with current legislation and national guidance.
• Provide advice and measurements to ensure equipment is used optimally.
• Provide advice on procurement (specifications, choice, and evaluation) of equipment within the hospital scope.
• Implement measurements and professional judgment on image quality and radiation dose optimization, including resolution of image quality problems.
• Support and implement research activity and oversee studies when requested by VPPA of the healthcare group.
• Attend and represent the department in hospital‑conducted programs.
• Maintain good relationships with co‑workers, patients, families, and friends.
• Give orders for specific preparation guidelines in special patient procedures.
• Interpret radiological examinations and perform those requiring fluoroscopy, special procedures, angiography, invasive procedures, ultrasound, CT, MRI scanning within assigned privileges.
• May need to travel to other sites for discussion of problem cases and provide support outside the site when requested.
• Participate in quality improvement programs of the radiology services.
• Support and supervise specialist radiologists in guidance & interpretation, instruct and assist technologists in producing appropriate views and positioning when unusual or difficult problems arise.
• Conduct and participate in continuous education of technologists and medical education programs of physicians.
• Ensure practice adheres to relevant radiation safety legislation at the practice site.
• Support diagnostic research and technology innovation where applicable.
• Support education and promote training opportunities among fellow radiologists, physicians from other specialties, nurses, and other clinical staff.
• Participate in, and lead person‑centered care initiatives undertaken by HMG.
• Provide orientation, training and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate trainees (interns, residents and fellows) as assigned.
• Participate in self‑and others' education, training and development as applicable and department’s educational activities and training programs.
• Enrich patient experience with compassion, respect and dignity.
• Perform other related duties applicable to the radiology department as requested by the head of the department.

Requirements

Education / Professional Qualification

• Graduate of Medical School, recognized by the Medical Council of the country of origin.
• Completion of appropriate internship and residency programs.
• Post‑graduate qualifications in the specialty.

Experience

• At least three (3) years of practice in the specialty after obtaining the higher degree in a tertiary care hospital.
• Sub‑specialty degree or structured sub‑specialty training preferred.

Professional Licensing / Certification / Training

• Membership, fellowship and/or board certification in the respective specialty.
• Relevant licensure from the country of origin, acceptable to the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties and Ministry of Health.
