Job description

Our client, a global leader in energy projects, is seeking an experienced CMIMS (Computerized Maintenance and Inspection Management System) & Spare Parts Lead to join their dynamic team for a major LNG project, which is part of their energy transition strategy.

This is a residential role in Muscat, Oman.

In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the development, implementation, and operational readiness of the Computerized Maintenance & Inspection Management System (CMIMS) and spare parts strategy. This role ensures that all maintenance and inspection activities are accurately represented in the CMIMS and that spare parts are effectively managed to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

The job holder is part of the company's Maintenance & Inspection team and will report directly to the Maintenance and Inspection Manager. This role ensures the integrity, accuracy, and availability of maintenance data and spare parts inventory in SAP to support efficient and effective maintenance operations throughout the project and operational phases.

Main tasks and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Project phase:
  • Be responsible for all MIE (Maintenance and Inspection Engineering) deliverables within their field of expertise.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with site personnel, office operations/technical teams, external contractors/vendors, and engineering teams.
  • Lead the setup and configuration of the CMIMS, ensuring alignment with project and corporate standards.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to collect and validate technical data from Spare Parts File by main Equipment (SPF-E), Spare Parts List by Equipment (SPL-E), and Spare Parts List by Grouping (SPL-R) for CMIMS loading.

Within the framework of an integrated project team, the job holder will have to:

  • Participate in the configuration and deployment of the CMIMS in alignment with project and corporate standards.
  • Coordinate with vendors and OEMs to ensure accurate and complete technical documentation and spare parts data.
  • Ensure data migration and system testing are completed successfully before commissioning.
  • Maintain and update the structure of the CMIMS database.
  • Develop technical scopes of work and participate in the preparation of call for tenders (CFT) for specific maintenance contracts (SMCs) required for the operational phase, such as spare part preservation. Ensure all SMCs are in place before start-up.
  • Define and validate operational and capital spare parts requirements in collaboration with maintenance, engineering, and procurement teams.
Operations phase:
  • As SAP key user, ensure correct use of the CMIMS. Assist in monitoring performance and availability of facilities, identify issues, compile relevant data, establish diagnoses, and produce reports with corrective actions.
  • Maintain, update, and improve the CMIMS database to reflect changes in equipment, maintenance plans, and inventory.
  • Monitor CMIMS performance and data quality, ensuring timely updates following modifications or operational feedback.
  • Manage spare parts inventory levels, reorder points, and procurement requests to ensure availability and cost efficiency.

Desired background and experience:

  • Experience in operational maintenance execution and development within an LNG or Oil and Gas context.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in the administration and optimization of SAP PM and MM modules.
  • Experience in project architecture and SAP design is a plus. Experience in spare parts cataloguing, inventory control, and warehouse operations is also desirable.
