Clinical Informatics and Automation Pharmacist

The Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care & Research Center (SQCCCRC) in Muscat, Oman a Quaternary care level center providing care for adult patients with solid malignancies (No hematological malignancies).

SQCCCRC is seeking to appoint a Clinical Informatics and Automation Pharmacist, who is a highly motivated individual to develop her/his professional career within the SQCCCRC. The Centre is aspiring to be a high-tech center with innovative -patient and staff-centered- technologies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (required).
  • Additional degree or certification in an IT-related or healthcare informatics field (Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Certificate program) is preferred.
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited residency program with a focus on pharmacy informatics is highly desirable.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of hospital information systems such as Epic, Cerner, or InterSystems.
  • Strong understanding of clinical decision support tools and electronic health record (EHR) workflows.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in pharmacy informatics.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Medication Safety & Technology Integration

promote safe and effective medication use by leveraging automation and technology to minimize human error and optimize clinical decision support systems within the EMR.

  1. System Design & Maintenance

Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of pharmacy-related IT systems, including medication records, alert systems, and automated distribution systems like Omnicell.

  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with IT, Pharmacy, and clinical teams to align technology with clinical workflows, support EMR optimization, and contribute to quality and safety initiatives.

  1. Training & Support

Provide education and technical support to clinicians and pharmacy staff on EMR use, medication systems, and new technology rollouts, including supervising support personnel.

  1. Data Analysis & Report Generation

Generate and analyze clinical and operational reports using multiple data platforms to support decision-making, process improvements, and enhanced patient care outcomes.

Salary will be based upon experience and qualification, using Oman Medical Bylaw.
