Job summary

Saudi Aramco is seeking an Automation Engineer to assure reliability, data integrity and cyber resilience of smart grid and industrial control systems. You will serve as SME for PSA and OT cybersecurity, lead design reviews, and collaborate with vendors to deploy secure automation solutions.

The role emphasizes mentoring, regulatory compliance, and advancing security posture across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams within Saudi Arabia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years in substation automation, OT network design, and industrial cybersecurity.
• Hands-on field experience deploying cybersecurity controls in OT environments.
• Expertise with IDS/IPS in OT, tuning and incident response workflows.
• Experience with smart grid tech, SCADA, and Zenon or equivalent.
• Familiarity with ISA/IEC 62443, NIST SP 800‑82, ISO 27001 and SAES.
• Certifications such as CISSP, GICSP, CEH, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.
• Experience with OT/IT security tools in industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in Power Substation Automation and OT cybersecurity.
• Lead design reviews to ensure compliance with Saudi Aramco standards and IEC/Modbus/DNP3/GOOSE.
• Investigate automation and cybersecurity incidents; perform root cause analysis.
• Develop and maintain standards for PSA, OT cybersecurity controls.
• Support commissioning, testing, and post-event analysis of automation systems.
• Provide technical guidance to operations, maintenance and engineering teams.
• Drive digitalization, grid modeling, analytics, and secure OT/IT integration.
• Collaborate with vendors and contractors for secure deployments.
• Represent Aramco in industry forums and technical groups.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and mentoring materials.
