Position overview

ABA seeks a Teacher of Arabic. Applications are invited from candidates with

experience and current knowledge of the IB Middle Years (MYP) and the Diploma

(DP) programmes in Language and Literature ( Language A) and Language

Responsibilities

● Design and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the MYP and DP Language

A/B frameworks

● Create an engaging and supportive learning environment that promotes

student success in Arabic

● Create differentiated learning experiences for diverse proficiency levels, from

emergent phases to Language and Literature level

● Develop and implement assessment tasks aligned with MYP and DP criteria

for both subject groups

● Assess student understanding and progress, and provide useful feedback

● Prepare students for the MYP e-assessment and DP examinations in both

Language B and Language A

● Maintain detailed documentation of unit planners and curriculum on

ManageBac, as well as use Google Classroom for daily planning

● Support students in developing their academic Arabic language skills while

preserving their cultural identity

● Implement appropriate strategies for teaching Arabic literature and

● Select and analyze appropriate literary and non-literary texts for Language &

Literature courses

● Collaborate with the Language A and B departments to ensure curriculum

alignment and progression

● Integrate Arabic culture and heritage into the curriculum and promote it

throughout the school

● Participate in collaborative planning and professional development

● Develop and build on strong, positive relationships with each student and

their family

● Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to best support our

students

● Role model our school’s Mission, Vision, and Values

● Understand and ensure school policies are reflected in practice.

Experiences

The successful candidate will:

● Hold relevant teaching qualifications in Arabic language and Literature

● Have proven experience teaching both Language Acquisition and Language &

Literature courses within the MYP and the DP

● Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of IB MYP and DP frameworks

in both subject groups

● Have excellent classroom management skills

● Show expertise in Arabic language teaching methodologies

● Have experience with IB assessment practices and moderation

● Demonstrate the ability to teach Arabic literature at an advanced level

● Be proficient in teaching Modern Standard Arabic and familiar with regional

dialects

● Show excellence in differentiation strategies for mixed-ability groups

● Have strong digital literacy skills for enhanced language teaching
