AOD Youth Residential Programme based in Burnside, Christchurch

20 hours per week, rostered across Monday - Friday

12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

Aftercare is a key role in our Youth Residential Service, working within the house and within the wider community to support our resident's journey to wellbeing.

Odyssey House Christchurch has been providing drug and alcohol treatment programmes for 40 years. Our Youth Residential programme offers a mix of clinical approaches including Māori and Pasifika concepts of health and wellbeing from a Therapeutic Community model.

As part of our team, you will build upon the proud history of Odyssey in Canterbury and ensure Aftercare services meet clients' needs in the current world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Hold a caseload of Aftercare clients, which you will check in regularly with.
  • Support the residential programme through facilitating groups to support reintegration and living skills
  • Develop robust community supports, attending appointments with clients and linking them with other agencies.
  • Have one on one and whānau meetings to ensure transition challenges are being overcome
  • Build relationships with whaiora so that tailored aftercare plans can be created.
Requirements:
  • A level 4 health qualification preferably endorsed in mental health and addictions or be willing to work towards this
  • Skills in group delivery and individual interventions
  • Excellent professional judgement and strong boundaries
  • Excellent time management skills to juggle multiple tasks
  • Ability to laugh and have fun with the young people
  • Full Drivers Licence
  • A high level of understanding of tikanga Māori and its importance within this setting
