Job summary

Upper Atiamuri School is seeking a Years 5–8 teacher to join our small rural school and lead the senior composite class.

You will plan and teach across multiple year levels, build strong relationships with learners and whānau, and respond to a range of learning needs with explicit teaching and learner agency. A willingness to contribute to our community is essential.

English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts

We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable Years 5–8 teacher to join our small, vibrant rural school.

The successful applicant will teach our senior composite class and will be confident planning and teaching across multiple year levels. Strong relationships, high expectations and the ability to respond to a range of learning needs are important to us.

We are looking for someone who has:

• strong classroom practice and enjoys working with senior primary learners
• confidence teaching in a composite/multi-level classroom
• familiarity with the refreshed New Zealand Curriculum and learning progressions
• sound assessment practice and the ability to use evidence to identify next learning steps
• confidence and interest in digital technology
• an understanding of explicit teaching alongside learner agency and authentic learning
• a willingness to contribute fully to the life of our school and rural community.

There is the possibility of management units for the right applicant , depending on strengths, experience and areas of interest. These could include EOTC, technology, science, the arts, sport, curriculum leadership , or another area you are passionate about.
