Ormiston Provision | Ko Taku Reo Deaf Education New Zealand
Are you a skilled teacher who excels at visual scaffolding and explicit teaching? A role in Deaf education could be for you, even if you do not yet know New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL). At Ormiston, your teaching strengths can help our students shine. Prior experience in Deaf education or NZSL is not essential: you will receive dedicated NZSL learning, individual mentoring and support from specialist colleagues from day one.
Ko Taku Reo is Aotearoa’s provider of specialist education services for Deaf and hard of hearing learners, supporting ākonga from early childhood through their transition into adulthood. At our Ormiston Provision, classes of fewer than 10 students give you space to build strong relationships and see your teaching make an immediate impact.
We seek a collaborative teacher committed to accessible, equitable bilingual education. Join a learning community that values the language, identity, culture and aspirations of Deaf and hard of hearing learners. Working alongside colleagues, whānau and specialist professionals, you will help ākonga build confidence, experience success and make meaningful progress.
Your skills in making learning visible and providing clear, structured instruction will be valued here. With small classes and specialist support, you can focus on understanding each learner and creating accessible learning experiences that reflect their strengths, aspirations and voice, while developing your knowledge of Deaf education.
