Job summary

Aotearoa Infinite Academy New Zealand (nationwide) is seeking a Full time, Permanent Year Level Dean to lead pastoral care and drive attendance and engagement across Year 9–15 in our online charter school.

You will build strong relationships with learners and whānau online and in person, identify barriers to learning, and coordinate with curriculum leads and teachers to ensure every student accesses their learning.

Qualifications

• Pastoral care and strong relationship-building with learners and whānau.
• Ability to monitor attendance and engagement in an online setting.
• Collaborate with curriculum leads and teachers to remove barriers to learning.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for students and whānau in your year level.
• Monitor daily attendance and online engagement data and follow up.
• Spot students at risk early and refer to support services when needed.
• Respond to incidents with restorative practices.
• Run year-level check-ins, celebrations and events to build belonging.
• Report to Deputy Principal and contribute to attendance/engagement strategies.

What you'll lead

• Pastoral careBe the first point of contact for students and whānau in your year level, building strong relationships online and in person.
• Access to the curriculumIdentify barriers to learning, from device and connectivity issues to wellbeing and learning needs, and work with curriculum leads, teachers and learning support to remove them.
• Attendance and engagementMonitor daily attendance and online engagement data, follow up quickly with students and whānau, and apply our stepped attendance response.
• Early interventionSpot students at risk early, put support plans in place and refer to case management and outside agencies when needed.
• Wellbeing and behaviourRespond to incidents, including online incidents, using restorative practice.
• Cohort cultureRun year-level check-ins, celebrations and events that build belonging across our online community.
• Working with leadersReport to your pastoral Deputy Principal and contribute to our schoolwide attendance and engagement strategy.
