Job summary

Iqra School invites an experienced teacher to join our Senior School, working with Year 6–8 students in Auckland. You will plan, deliver, and assess engaging programmes aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Collaborating with colleagues and families, you will foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment while upholding the school’s Islamic special character and wellbeing focus.

Qualifications

• Hold New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate.
• Experience teaching senior primary or middle years (Year 6–8) preferred.
• Sound knowledge of the NZ Curriculum and assessment practices.
• Excellent classroom management, organisation and communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate teaching to support diverse learners.
• Commitment to student achievement, wellbeing and professional development.
• Willingness to uphold the Islamic special character of Iqra School.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging learning programmes aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum.
• Provide high-quality classroom teaching that supports academic progress and meets diverse learning needs.
• Demonstrate effective classroom management and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.
• Use assessment information to monitor student progress, inform teaching, and identify areas requiring additional support.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, school leadership, and learning support staff.
• Maintain effective communication with parents and caregivers regarding student learning and wellbeing.
• Support students' social, emotional, and academic development.
• Actively contribute to school activities, professional learning, and Senior School initiatives.
• Uphold and support Iqra School's Islamic special character, values, and expectations.
