Job summary

A rural primary school in Northland is seeking a vibrant and positive classroom teacher for a fixed-term role teaching students from Years 1 to 8. The position requires excellent communication skills, a sense of humour, flexibility, and experience in teaching structured literacy and mathematics. Qualifications

Hukerenui School is a rural school 20 minutes north of Whangarei.

Due to our current Y5–6 teacher taking refreshment leave and winning a sabbatical, we need a vibrant fixed-term classroom teacher with a sense of humour, flexibility, and a positive attitude.

The successful applicant will be a team player with excellent communication skills. Knowledge of teaching structured literacy and maths will be preferable.

The position starts at the beginning of term 1, 2026 and is a fixed-term position for 1 year.
