Role context

Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Certificated teacher

Responsibilities and expectations

We are seeking a compassionate and inspiring teacher to join our small, close-knit Catholic school community in 2026. This fixed-term, part-time role is in our Y0–2 class, where cooperation, kindness, and a love of learning are at the heart of everything we do.

While training in Structured Literacy is an advantage (though not compulsory), the most essential quality is a passion for supporting diverse learners through inclusive and engaging teaching practices.

At St Leo’s, everyone is involved – our dedicated staff, families, and parish work together to foster a nurturing environment where every child is known and valued. We are looking for someone who:

The successful applicant will be expected to uphold the special Catholic Character of our school. A willingness and ability to participate in religious instruction are requirements for the position.

Please note: This position is open to applicants who are New Zealand-registered teachers. This teaching position could be up to 4 days per week in a job share situation, depending on the suitability of the applicant. Visits welcome.

Qualifications

New Zealand-registered teachers. Training in Structured Literacy is advantageous but not compulsory.
