Like our adventure-loving customers, we’re always on the move—our next destination is already mapped out, and we’re ready to roll.

Proudly headquartered in Aotearoa New Zealand, thl is the world’s largest campervan operator, with thriving operations across New Zealand, Australia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Our diverse fleet includes trusted brands like Maui, Britz, Apollo, Mighty, Cheapa Campa, Hippie, El Monte RV, Road Bear, and Just Go.

Beyond campervans, we’re also home to some of New Zealand’s most iconic tourism experiences, including Kiwi Experience, the magical Waitomo Glowworm Caves, and the thrilling Legendary Black Water Rafting.

At thl, we don’t just help people travel—we help them discover, connect, and create memories that last a lifetime.

About the Role:

As our Workshop Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the quality and reliability of our fleet—leading a skilled and passionate crew to ensure every vehicle is meticulously serviced, immaculately presented, and adventure-ready. From overseeing complex mechanical repairs and large-scale rebranding projects to navigating seasonal peaks and mentoring your team, you’ll be at the helm of operations that directly shape the guest experience. Your leadership will ensure that every campervan leaving the yard meets the highest safety standards and delivers the kind of unforgettable journey that thl is known for.

And yes, the perks are real: want to take an RV out for your own roadie? We’ll hand you the keys. Fancy caving and abseiling at Waitomo? We’ll gear you up. At thl, adventure isn’t just for our customers—it’s for our crew too.

We’re looking for someone who’s:

  • A hands-on leader with deep mechanical expertise and a passion for quality, safety and team development
  • Organised, proactive, and confident managing workshop operations, budgets, and seasonal demands
  • A clear communicator who thrives in fast-paced environments and knows how to motivate a diverse crew to deliver their best.

Key Responsibilities:

As Workshop Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day operations of our mechanical workshop, ensuring fleet quality, safety, and compliance. You’ll:

  • Manage and motivate a team of 10-30 crew members
  • Oversee vehicle repairs, servicing, rebrands, and refurbishments to trade-quality standards
  • Ensure all vehicles meet COF and manufacturer specifications before hitting the road
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and inventory to support efficient operations
  • Drive labour and cost management within budget, contributing to monthly and annual reporting
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training of workshop crew
  • Champion health and safety standards and ensure compliance with leglisation
  • Collaborate with branch leadership and act as manager-on-duty across departments when required
  • Monitor performance metrics and quality control checks to maintain brand standards
  • Communicate clearly with managers and crew, sharing accurate data and operational updates
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

Key Criteria:

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Level 4 Automotive Qualification
  • 3+ years’ experience in automotive workshop management or similar
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems, servicing, and repairs
  • Proven ability to manage costs, resources, and team performance
  • Experience with warranties, compliance, and mechanical issue resolution
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and communication skills
  • A collaborative leadership style with a focus on coaching and development
  • High attention to detail and confidence using digital systems (including Excel and Microsoft Office)
  • A passion for quality, customer safety, and delivering unforgettable experiences
