Job summary

Global Wave Group is seeking a WordPress Developer to join our Albany, Auckland team. You will develop and maintain WordPress-based websites, implementing PHP code and responsive layouts from UI/UX designs.

You will customize themes and plugins, optimize performance and SEO, and collaborate with product, marketing, and design teams to deliver updates. A 3+ year track record and a Bachelor’s degree are required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years WordPress or Front-End development experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant IT field.
• Strong PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery skills.

WordPress Developer – Global Wave Group

Location: Albany, Auckland (Office based)

Reports to: Head of IT

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the website using WordPress and PHP.
• Build responsive, high-performance web pages from UI/UX designs.
• Customize WordPress themes & plugins; write clean PHP code.
• Optimize website performance, speed, SEO structure, and user experience.
• Troubleshoot bugs, refine workflows, and improve site functionality.
• Work closely with product, marketing, and design teams to deliver updates.

Essential Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in WordPress or Front-End Development.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• Strong PHP programming skills.
• Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery.
• Hands-on experience with WordPress themes, plugins, hooks, and filters.
• Understanding of SEO-friendly site structure.
• Professional English (written & verbal), Conversational Mandarin is a plus.

Desirable

• Experience with Element, WPBakery, or building custom plugins.
• Experience in the financial industry.
• Knowledge of REST APIs & website integrations.
• Familiarity with hosting, DNS, and server environments.
