Job summary

Stuart Tarbotton Contractors in Ashburton, South Island, seeks an experienced Wheel Excavator Operator to support farm maintenance and drainage projects across Canterbury. You will operate one of our Doosan wheel excavators on varied rural sites and contribute to a high-standard of workmanship.

The role requires a NZ licence with WTR endorsements, a self-motivated, team-spirited approach and a focus on Health and Safety. Training and development are provided.

Qualifications

• Experience operating excavators.
• NZ driving licence with WTR endorsements.
• Self-motivation and able to work unsupervised.
• Team player with good communication skills.
• Ability to complete a job to a high standard.
• Positive attitude to Health and Safety.
• Familiarity with farm operations is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Operate Doosan DX140 wheel excavator across farm maintenance and drainage projects throughout Canterbury.
• Perform water race cleaning, swales, farm drainage, tree removal and other rural earthworks.
• Tows bucket trailer and ute between sites; work as part of a rural team.

Skilled Wheel Excavator Operators are crucial to our “Done Right” approach to farm maintenance and rural works across Canterbury.Tarbotton has been operating wheel excavators for over 35 years and has built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, practical solutions, and getting the job done right the first time.As a Wheel Excavator Operator, you will operate one of our modern Doosan DX140 wheel excavators across a wide range of farm maintenance and drainage projects throughout Canterbury.

Our team currently operates eight 14-tonne rubber tyre excavators around Mid Canterbury completing work including:

• Water race cleaning
• Swales and farm drainage
• Offal holes
• Tree removal
• Mainline installation and removal
• Service trenching
• Dairy lane maintenance
• General rural earthwork

Each excavator tows its own bucket trailer and ute between jobs.

This role suits an experienced operator who takes pride in their work, can think practically on the job, and enjoys a wide variety of rural work. A background in farming or familiarity with how farms operate would be an advantage.
