Job summary

Oranga Tamariki – Ministry for Children is seeking permanent, full-time Social Workers for the Waitakere/Henderson Care & Protection team. The salary ranges from NZD 81,206 to NZD 97,557 depending on experience, with progression through tenure.

Ideal candidates will be registered with SWRB with a current practising certificate, hold a recognised social work qualification, and demonstrate strength-based practice with strong communication skills and cultural awareness.

Qualifications

• Registration with SWRB and a current Annual Practising Certificate.
• A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB.
• A strong and genuine commitment to strength-based practice.
• A full, clean, current driver’s licence.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated resilience, problem solving and flexibility.
• Strong PC and Microsoft Office Suite skills with report writing.
• An authentic commitment to working alongside whānau is essential.
• Soft skills, emotional empathy, teamwork and leadership.
• Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori and Pacific cultures.

Responsibilities

• Work with tamariki, rangatahi and whānau to make positive changes in the community.
• Contribute to and uphold a whanau-led approach in practice.
• Collaborate with the Care & Protection team to support tamariki wellbeing.
