Job summary

Smart Environmental invites an experienced Area Manager to lead West Coast operations, including Buller, Hokitika and Greymouth. You’ll drive growth, oversee a fleet of 15+ trucks and 30+ staff while focusing on safety and service excellence.

Based in or near Greymouth, you’ll build strong relationships with councils and commercial clients, travel regularly across the region, and mentor a high-performing team to deliver reliable waste and recycling services.

Qualifications

• Proven experience driving business growth and managing operations.
• Strong ability to work under pressure while maintaining efficiency and focus.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Leading a great team to deliver reliable, safe, and customer-focused services.
• Managing a fleet of over 15 trucks and a team of more than 30 staff, with a strong focus on health and safety.
• Growing our commercial waste and recycling businesses in the region.
