Job summary

Whānau Āwhina Plunket is seeking a Visiting Teacher to join our Home-Based Early Learning Service Team in Dunedin/Otago. You will provide professional leadership and support to our in-home Educators, traveling around the region to assist and mentor.

The role is part-time starting at 10 hours per week with potential to increase as the network grows, and requires an early childhood teaching qualification, NZ Education Council practicing certificate, strong communication, and the ability to manage

Qualifications

• Early childhood teaching qualification (minimum Diploma of Teaching).
• Current full NZ Education Council practicing certificate.
• Experience leading and mentoring adults.
• Full clean NZ driver's license.
• Knowledge of professional practice in early childhood education.
• Understanding of Ministry of Education legislation.
• Ability to juggle a varied workload and excellent time management.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic and good communication skills.
• Ability to build professional relationships and collaborate.
• Experience with learning stories, programme planning and some administration.
• Good computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and support to in-home Educators/Nannies and Au Pairs.
• Travel around the Dunedin/Otago region to support Educators and the team.
• Mentor adults in early childhood practices and professional development.
• Assist with learning stories, programme planning and some administration.
• Maintain professional relationships and communicate effectively with families and educators.

The main purpose of Genius Early Years is to provide high quality early childhood education and care that delivers high quality learning experiences for our children.

This permanent part time position would be based in the Dunedin/Otago region. The successful applicant would need to be prepared to travel around the region to support our Educators and team.

Our Visiting Teachers provide support and guidance to our wonderful group of home-based Educators/Nannies and Au Pairs, providing excellent early learning outcomes for our Tamariki and whanau. Experience in leading adults and Home-based childcare an advantage.
