About the role
Responsibilities
  • As a Casual Cook, you will assist the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious meals for lunch and dinner.
  • Supervise others and contribute to meal preparation with confidence in the kitchen.
  • Prepare morning and afternoon tea, as well as daily meals.
  • Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature.
  • Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks.
  • Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols.
  • Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and meet their needs appropriately.

Our kitchen and dining hours do not operate late into the evenings, providing a work/life balance with no late nights in the kitchen.

About you
Skills
  • Passion for the wellbeing of older people; enthusiastic, patient, well organized with good interpersonal skills and a sense of humour.
  • Share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect.
  • Ability to drive a manual van.
  • Experience in a commercial kitchen, preparing meals for large groups with mixed dietary needs.
  • Good communication skills and a person-centred approach.
  • High standards of personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Food safety/hygiene certificate.
  • Ability to use various technology platforms for daily operations.
