Job summary

Tasman District Council invites applications for a varied role combining field work, data analysis, stakeholder engagement and technical expertise to support sustainable water management across the region. You’ll lead the telemetered water metering data collection programme, working with water users and contractors to provide information for resource management and environmental decision-making.

Qualifications

• Degree in natural or physical sciences, environmental science, hydrology, or a related discipline.
• At least five years' experience in environmental monitoring, resource assessment or water resource management.
• Experience working with environmental data and time-series databases.
• Knowledge of water measurement regulations, water metering systems and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Lead Council's telemetered water metering data collection programme.
• Analyze water use trends and maintain quality data systems.
• Support flood warning operations and contribute to water resource investigations.
