Overview

Veolia Australia & New Zealand is the only global company to provide a full range of environmental services in the fields of water, waste management and energy solutions.

We currently have a fixed term vacancy (ending 31st March 2026) for an experienced Wastewater Treatment Operator based in Whitianga to carry out operational and routine maintenance tasks, and mechanical repairs within the Thames/Coromandel contract.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who will be able to hit the ground running.

What you'll be responsible for
  • Maintenance and repair of pipes, pumps, leaks, machines, blockages and pump stations
  • Preventative maintenance including refits and rebuilding of assets
  • Laboratory testing and data entry
  • Performance monitoring and improvements of treatment process
  • Monitoring, recording and altering Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system
  • Act as a point of contact for customer requests for service
  • Coordinate and provide contractual reporting to the Client
  • Accurately log all reports and jobs, completing the necessary paperwork and filing where required
What you'll need to be successful
  • Class 1 Driver Licence essential although Class 2 Licence will be an advantage
  • Tertiary education in Science; Engineering (Mechanical) or computing an advantage
  • A strong process or mechanical background
  • Water industry experience
  • A can-do attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to participate in an on-call roster
  • Great communication and organisational skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
