Job summary

Foodstuffs North Island Limited in Penrose is seeking an experienced Sandblaster / Spray Painter to join our light engineering workshop team.

This hands-on role focuses on preparing and coating large metal bins and components to high standards. You will sandblast surfaces, perform surface preparation, and spray paint. Welding and fabrication tasks may be needed, with an immediate start and long-term potential for the right person.

Qualifications

• Sandblasting experience required.
• Spray painting experience preferred.
• Strong surface preparation and finishing knowledge.
• Comfortable with physical hands-on workshop work.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Forklift licence and welding tickets are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Sandblasting metal surfaces to remove rust, grime, and old coatings.
• Surface preparation including cleaning and masking.
• Spray painting large metal bins and components.
• Ensure coatings are applied evenly and to quality standards.
• Assist with basic repairs, fabrication, and welding tasks as needed.

• Monday – Friday | 6:00am – 2:30pm

We are searching for qualified fabricators and onsite welders within the local area. You will possess good social and team skills be confident when placed independently onsite to take on complex projects be fit and willing and able to pass any drug and alcohol testing.

• 3 years experience (post training) in heavy engineering.
• A high amount of onsite stick welding experience.
• Full drivers licence with no infringements.
• Experience with heavy machinery/transportation an advantage.
• Must be able to fabricate to tight tolerances.
• Must be able to work extended hours as required.
• Ability to transfer into workshop MIG structural fabrication if required.

Full time position with wage range of $30.00-$35.00 per hour.
