Job summary

CGR Services seeks a New Zealand-registered Veterinarian (or eligible for VCNZ) to join the meat safety and export verification team in Hastings/Napier, Hawke's Bay. The role involves mandatory ante mortem inspections and on-site verification at meat plants.

You will collaborate with vets and plant staff, ensure procedures are followed, certify exports, and promote animal welfare with ongoing training and mentoring provided.

Qualifications

• Be a New Zealand registered Veterinarian (or able to obtain registration with VCNZ)
• Hold a full New Zealand driver’s licence
• Have strong verbal and written communication and analytical reasoning skills
• Demonstrate integrity, ethics and values, resilience and adaptability
• Have experience persuading, influencing, teamwork, planning and organising
• Proficient computer literacy in standard and customised software including Word, Excel, internet and email

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as meat works personnel and Veterinary colleagues/VS team
• Verify that requirements and procedures are followed
• Provide certification for animal meat exports
• Complete ante mortem inspections and occasionally provide judgement on post-mortem inspections
• Maintain knowledge within farming communities and participate in on-farm verification
• Ensure animal welfare is maintained
