MedRecruit Limited is recruiting for a Consultant Ophthalmologist (Vitreoretinal) in Wellington, New Zealand. This 0.8 FTE, part-time position is based at a 484-bed regional hospital and begins August 2026, with salary as per ASMS SECA.

The role focuses on acute and elective vitreoretinal care in OPD and theatre settings, with teaching, supervision of RMOs, and on-call duties. FRANZCO or MCNZ vocational registration is required.

Qualifications

• Must be registered in Ophthalmology with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
• FRANZCO or equivalent qualification and vocational registration with MCNZ.
• Strong clinical skills with interest in Vitreoretinal surgery.
• Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to provide consistently high standards of medical care.
• Relevant experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Operate and clinic sessions.
• Participate in service and clinical meetings.
• Engage in quality improvement, clinical audits, and CME.
• Contribute to service and organisational initiatives in clinical practice.
• Participate in vitreoretinal on-call roster.
