A local municipal council is seeking a Visitor Services Team Member at the National Aquarium of New Zealand. This fixed-term role involves engaging visitors, supporting café and retail services, and helping with events. Ideal candidates will have 1-2 years of customer service experience and solid communication skills. The position offers discounted health insurance and other perks, with a salary ranging from $43,100 to $50,700 for part-time hours.
Join the Visitor Services team at the National Aquarium of New Zealand on a one year fixed term contract and play a key role in creating memorable experiences for our guests. This varied role rotates across admissions, retail, café, and events, giving you the chance to welcome visitors, sell tickets and tours, serve in the café, support retail sales, and help deliver functions and birthday parties. No two days are the same, and you’ll be part of a supportive roster that ensures a fair share of weekends off.
We’re looking for someone with great people skills, a can-do attitude, and a passion for delivering excellent service. You’ll bring experience in customer service, hospitality or retail, be confident with cash handling and computers, and enjoy working as part of a team. In return, you’ll get the chance to work in one of Napier’s most iconic attractions, meet people from all over the world, and contribute to an organisation that’s all about learning, conservation, and community.
This is fixed term opportunity for one year. You’ll work 33 hours per week across 4 days as rostered (7 day rolling roster, including public holidays). You will be based at the National Aquarium of New Zealand on Napier’s Marine Parade.
The annual salary package for this role is between $43,100-$50,700 (including KiwiSaver) for part-time hours (33 hours per week). The final offer will depend on your skills and experience.
Applications for this role close on 27 October 2025, however due to the highly competitive employment market we will be interviewing applications as we receive them and may close the role when we have found the right person. Please do not delay in making your application.
