Job summary

Flyaway is seeking a Vehicle Detailer to join our Grooming Team. You’ll clean campervans, rental vehicles, customer vehicles and fleet vehicles to a high presentation standard, inside and out, focusing on the small touches that make a vehicle customer ready.

This hands-on role rewards attention to detail, pace when busy, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a NZ Class 1 driver licence.

• Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence.
• Safe driving record appropriate for the position.

Responsibilities

• Clean and detail campervans, rental vehicles, customer vehicles and fleet vehicles to a high presentation standard.
• Complete thorough interior and exterior cleans based on service requirements.
• Inspect vehicles and report existing damage or concerns.
• Perform a final quality check before vehicle release and take ownership if something is missed.
• Safely move, park and secure vehicles as authorised.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures and operate cleaning equipment safely.

Vehicle Detailer – Vehicles & Campervans

About the role

Do you have an eye for detail and take pride in transforming a vehicle so it looks its absolute best?

Flyaway is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Vehicle Detailer to join our team. This is a hands-on role working across a variety of vehicles, including campervans, rental vehicles, customer vehicles and fleet vehicles.

We are particularly interested in someone who has previous campervan cleaning or detailing experience and understands the extra care and attention required to prepare a campervan for its next customer.

This is more than a quick wash and vacuum. We want someone who notices the details - the fingerprints on the glass, the marks around trims, the sand hiding in corners and the small finishing touches that make the difference between a vehicle being simply clean and being customer ready.

You’ll work as part of our Grooming Team to deliver consistently high presentation standards while helping us keep vehicles moving efficiently through our operation.

What you'll be doing

Cleaning and detailing campervans, rental vehicles, customer vehicles and fleet vehicles to a high presentation standard

Completing thorough interior and exterior cleans based on the service or grooming requirements for each vehicle

Cleaning campervan interiors, including living areas, kitchens, bathrooms, storage areas and other surfaces where required

Vacuuming and cleaning carpets, seats, mats, upholstery and interior surfaces

Cleaning windows, mirrors, wheels, trims and other exterior presentation areas

Paying close attention to the areas that are easily missed, including corners, edges, high-touch areas and hard-to-reach spaces

Inspecting vehicles before starting work and reporting any existing damage, missing items or concerns

Completing a final quality check before a vehicle is released - if something has been missed, you take ownership and put it right

Safely moving, parking and securing vehicles when authorised

Looking after vehicle keys, customer property and personal belongings

Working efficiently to the daily grooming schedule while adapting when operational priorities change

Using grooming equipment, machinery and cleaning products safely and correctly

Following all Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices

Supporting your teammates and contributing to a positive, hardworking environment

Providing friendly and professional service when interacting with customers

About you

We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work and genuinely cares about the finished result.

Ideally, you'll bring:

Previous vehicle grooming, detailing, rental vehicle or professional cleaning experience

Excellent attention to detail - you notice the things other people might walk past

Pride in delivering consistently high-quality work

The ability to work efficiently without sacrificing quality

A reliable and positive attitude

Good organisation and time-management skills

The ability to work independently while also being a great team member

A strong work ethic and willingness to get stuck in

The ability to work in a physically active role throughout your shift

A full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence

A safe driving record appropriate for the position

Confidence driving both manual and automatic vehicles

Experience within the campervan, rental vehicle, automotive or fleet industry would be a strong advantage.
