Job description

If you enjoy working outdoors, possess an awesome work ethic and have your full NZ drivers' licence, then this role would suit you! We are looking for a motivated and energetic individual to take on responsibilities of vegetation control management in our local parks and reserves across the Horowhenua region.

What does a Vegetation Control Operator do, you ask?

This position involves spray operations and vegetation control tasks such as:

• Chemical spraying and application of organic herbicides
• Manual removal of weeds and pest plants
• Operating spray equipment and machinery
• Planting and pruning of roses, shrubs and herbaceous perennials
• Undertake other gardening and/or horticulture tasks that may be necessary

Who we are looking for:

Ideally we would love someone who has pest plant management experience, however, this is not a must. As long as you are a hard-worker, with a passion for working outdoors and getting stuck in then you would be a perfect candidate. Other success factors include:

• A clean and current drivers' licence with the ability to drive a manual
• A current GrowSafe would be highly desirable
• Be a team player with a positive attitude - helping out your team mates needs to be second nature
• Ability to adhere to the company's health and safety procedures
• Motivated with a strong desire to get this job done
• Physically fit - the role does involve a lot of walking
