Job summary

NZMA in Hamilton is seeking a Uniformed Services Tutor to guide learners through an 18-week Pre-Police and Uniformed Services preparation programme. You will coach students in physical, technical, and professional skills drawn from your service experience.

You will lead practical sessions, mentor students from diverse backgrounds, and help improve outcomes across the Defence services sector within an autonomy-supported campus culture.

Qualifications

• Proven experience/background in armed forces (or a recent veteran or reservist) or other relevant uniformed background.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate, mentor and inspire.
• Ability to build trust and positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Teaching or mentoring experience is an advantage but not essential; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Level 3 Uniformed Services curriculum through engaging, practical delivery.
• Lead physical training sessions to build confidence, discipline and teamwork.
• Mentor and support students from diverse backgrounds and track progress.
• Share industry knowledge to strengthen the programme and keep it aligned with industry needs.
• Play a pivotal role in improving student success rates across Defence forces.
