Te Whiwhinga mahi| The opportunity

Our Transportation Engineers are responsible for a wide variety of projects and programmes of work that are aimed at improving safety, promoting sustainable travel, and improving the effectiveness of the road network. They embody the safe system approach in all work, based upon our "Vision Zero" philosophy, and also provide specialist transportation engineering subject matter expertise and advice to our customers.

Furthermore, this role provides an opportunity to provide technical support on investigation and design of active mode programmes, and emerging requirements in micro-mobility.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Ideally 2 (or more) year's relevant experience in aspects of traffic engineering including analysis, investigation, planning and delivery.
  • Accreditation with relevant professional body desirable.
  • Full and current NZ drivers' licence with no major infringements.
  • Fluency in the use of crash analysis systems (CAS) and ability to interpret and analyse information.
  • Experience in use of traffic simulation tools preferred.
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • A good understanding and appreciation of the workings and functions of local government, including current and future business drivers and statutory requirements

This is a casual opportunity in our Traffic Engineering North/West team based in the Viaduct.
