Job summary

NZ Ski Limited in Queenstown seeks an experienced Operations/Transport Manager to lead the transport team and shape the direction of the transport business unit. You will oversee day-to-day operations, fleet efficiency and cost management while growing charter services and supporting our sister company, Ultimate Hikes.

You will manage the fleet workshop, build relationships with ski-area teams and external partners, and drive safe, reliable, customer-focused transport solutions during peak

• Proven experience supervising an operations team with focus on safety and customer experience.
• Strong collaborator with ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
• Able to understand P&L and manage operational costs to meet targets.
• Highly organised and able to plan ahead.
• Strategic thinker with long-term planning ability.
• Full and clean NZ Driver's licence essential; ability to obtain a P endorsement.
• Prefer Class 2 and 4; support available if needed.

Are you an experienced Operations or Transport Manager that wants to play an integral role in one of Queenstown’s largest tourism businesses?

About the Role

NZSki operate Coronet Peak and The Remarkables in Queenstown and Mt Hutt in Canterbury. Our Queenstown Transport team is over 60 strong in winter and can operate over 30 buses a day in peak periods, providing over 100,000 guest trips every winter season. We have one of the largest 4WD passenger fleets in NZ.

This role offers the opportunity to really make your mark in shaping the direction of the transport business unit, as we look towards ongoing growth and how we best adapt our transport products to service demand.

About You

You will be an experienced people manager, and highly capable of overseeing day to day operations, optimising fleet usage and reliability, analysing and managing costs, as well as developing and reporting against annual business plans. You will also manage our fleet workshop which services both NZSki and other Trojan Group owned companies. Over summer you will be tasked to grow our transport charter business and manage the delivery of transport services for our sister company, Ultimate Hikes. You will develop collaborative relationships with our ski area teams and external stakeholders to support our customers to get to where they want to be.

What skills or experience are we looking for?

• Proven experience supervising an operations team with a strong focus on safe operating procedures and customer experience
• Strong collaborator with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships
• Capable of understanding a P&L and how to manage operational costs to meet targets
• Highly organised
• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and plan ahead
• Full and clean NZ Drivers licence essential as well as ability to obtain a P endorsement
• Prefer Class 2 and 4, support can be given towards these if needed

During the winter season (June – October) you may be required to work early or late and some weekend days as agreed, in return we can offer you greater flexibility outside the winter season.
