Job description

Introduction:

Powertech is an electrical engineering services provider delivering HV/LV & E&I testing, commissioning, operations, and maintenance services to clients in mining, oil and gas, utilities, renewable energy, and defense sectors across Australasia. Due to steady company growth from existing and new projects, we are seeking a Transformer Technician to join our Malaga office in Perth on a Full-Time basis.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience with transformer servicing, refurbishment, installation, fault finding, analysis, and technical report writing, including rectification works on small to large HV distribution transformers.

We are accepting applications from across New Zealand and Australia. The point of hire is Perth, Western Australia, and candidates outside WA must be willing to relocate.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Achieve the deliverables outlined in the 'transformer services' business plan.
  • Perform work and provide technical support for HV Power Transformers.
  • Ensure client requirements are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Powertech clients.
  • Execute all projects professionally from start to finish.
  • Work in remote areas within the state, offshore, and interstate as required.
Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • An electrical trade qualification (current fitter/mechanic electrical license) is preferred but not mandatory.
  • At least 5 years of experience with power transformers.
  • Perform power transformer oil filtration and circulation.
  • Experience in rectification and refurbishment of power transformers.
  • Installation and assembly of new power transformers, including onsite support.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide consultancy for maintenance, rectification, or refurbishment projects.
  • Familiarity with transformer components and accessories such as tap changer systems and operation.
  • Ability to fault find, diagnose, and repair transformers, including oil analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of transformer service requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A truck license is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform transformer electrical testing is preferred but not required.
