Job summary

KiwiRail is recruiting three motivated individuals to join the Track Maintenance team in Hamilton as Trainee Track Workers. The role offers on-the-job training, a clearly defined roster, and a pathway to long-term rail industry careers.

Starting pay is $30.42 per hour with ongoing increases as training progresses, plus four weeks of annual leave and access to staff benefits. Applicants must pass pre-employment checks and hold NZ residency or citizenship.

Qualifications

• Full, clean New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence.
• Good physical fitness and ability to undertake manual work.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass medical, drug and alcohol, and MOJ checks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair rail track and infrastructure.
• Operate tools, equipment, and light machinery.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Contribute to infrastructure maintenance and improvement projects.
• Support a culture of health, safety and teamwork.

• Starting rate: $30.42 per hour, with regular increases as you complete training
• Enjoy a rostered schedule with9-hourshifts (6:00am to 3:30pm), working Sunday to Wednesday during Week 1 and Sunday to Thursday during Week 2.

This is an excellent opportunity to start a long-term career in the rail industry. Working alongside experienced team members,you'llhelpmaintainand repair New Zealand's rail network while gaining valuable skills, qualifications, and experience.

You'llbe involved in:

• Maintaining and repairing rail track and infrastructure
• Operating tools, equipment, and light machinery
• Working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
• Contributing to infrastructure maintenance and improvement projects
• Supporting a strong culture of health, safety, and teamwork

This role is physically active, varied, and rewarding, with comprehensive training provided from day one.

We'relooking for someone who enjoy practical, hands-on work and are committed to working safely.

• A full, clean New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence

Advantageous but not essential:
