Awanui Labs is part of Awanui Group, the largest network of human and veterinary pathology laboratories in New Zealand. We operate 25 laboratories, 150 collection centres, and employ over 2,200 staff across Aotearoa. Our team of pathologists, scientists, technicians, phlebotomists, couriers, and support staff deliver world-class services, analyzing over 7 million patient results annually.
Our Patient Services Department handles the collection of blood and other specimens (e.g., human blood, faeces, urine, tissue) from patients in the community and hospital, which are then processed in our state-of-the-art laboratories.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Trainee for our Patient Services Department. This casual position offers flexible hours that may vary weekly.

- A positive, friendly attitude with cultural and social sensitivity.
- Compassion and a genuine desire to provide high-quality care to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
- Excellent customer service skills, including good personal presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately, even under pressure.
- Respect for patient confidentiality in all matters.
- Good computer skills.
- Registration with the Medical Science Council and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Pre-Analytical Technician in Patient Services is desirable but not essential.
- Eligibility to work in NZ.
