Job summary

Awanui Labs, part of Awanui Group, is seeking a dedicated Trainee for our Hamilton Patient Services team. This fixed-term, part-time role (50 hours per fortnight) runs from 12 October 2026 to 23 May 2027.

You will support blood sample collection, specimen handling, and customer service, with optional weekend/public holiday shifts as rostered. Learn hands-on in a modern lab with automated systems and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills are essential and must reflect compassion and respect for patients.
• Candidates should follow processes accurately and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Positive, friendly attitude and cultural sensitivity are required.
• Eligible to work in New Zealand with support for registration if needed.
• Interest in hands-on learning in a medical laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with workplace drug testing services under supervision and follow procedures.
• Provide professional customer service and administrative support at the Hamilton collection centre.
