Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Waitematā is seeking a motivated candidate for a trainee role in the Central Sterile Sciences department across North Shore and Waitākere campuses. This permanent, full-time position offers structured training in instrumentation and sterilisation processes.

You will work from 15:00 to 23:30, with some weekend shifts in rotation, and have the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in Sterilising Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Collection, sorting, decontamination, inspection, testing and sterilisation of surgical and medical devices.
  • Operate within the Central Sterile Sciences department across North Shore and Waitākere campuses.
  • Adhere to quality assurance and safety standards, with lifting requirements as part of the role.

About the Role

The Central Sterile Sciences department is a business-critical service that provides decontamination and sterilisation services across Te Whatu Ora Waitematā (inpatient and community) as well as external customers.

The position will require you to work at both the North Shore and Waitākere hospital campuses, enabling you to learn all aspects of instrumentation used in patient care.

Within this role you will be responsible for the collection, sorting, decontamination, inspection, testing and sterilisation of surgical and medical devices at the cutting edge of technology, ensuring all quality assurance and compliance are met. The tasks mentioned will involve some lifting.

We will provide a fully comprehensive training programme, where you will have the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification in Sterilising Technology. We are committed to the ongoing development of quality, and health and safety within the department, so your commitment to these is essential.
