Job summary

WM New Zealand is looking for a proactive Trade Assistant to support skilled tradespeople and help keep the site running smoothly and safely. The role is hands-on, outdoors, and demands reliability and teamwork.

You’ll assist with cleaning, loading/unloading, basic maintenance, and following health and safety protocols. A valid NZ licence and willingness to learn new skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Valid NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence.
• Enjoy outdoor, hands-on work.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and a strong team player.
• Keen to learn new skills and take on varied tasks.
• Physical stamina for manual work.
• Experience with tools, construction or landscaping is a bonus.

Job Description

We’re looking for a motivated Trade Assistant to join our team. This is a hands‑on role where no two days are the same, and you’ll be supporting skilled tradespeople while keeping our site running smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities

• Cleaning and maintaining the site
• Washing bins and equipment
• Assisting tradespeople with various tasks
• Loading and unloading materials and tools
• Keeping work areas clean, tidy, and safe
• Carrying out basic maintenance such as painting, minor repairs, and landscaping
• Operating hand tools and power tools (as required)
• Following health and safety protocols, including wearing PPE
• Completing other duties as directed by your supervisor or project manager

Qualifications

You’ll bring a positive, can‑do attitude and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed. This role is a great fit if you:

• A valid NZ Class 1 Drivers Licence
• Enjoy working outdoors and being hands‑on
• Are reliable, safety-conscious, and a strong team player
• Are keen to learn new skills and take on a variety of tasks
• Have the physical stamina for manual work
• Have some experience with tools, construction, landscaping, or similar work (a bonus, but not essential)
