Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Taranaki is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Theatre team at Taranaki Base Hospital in a permanent part-time role. The role covers operating theatres across multiple specialties with an emphasis on learning, patient-centred care, and safety.

We offer an onboarding period, access to clinical training and education, and opportunities for professional development as you work with a dedicated MDT in a large, busy theatre environment.

Qualifications

• Recent and extensive nursing experience in the operating theatre.
• Proven communication skills amongst colleagues and MDT.
• Great team work ethic, and be willing to be adaptable and flexible.
• Be self-motivated to progress, gain knowledge and improve clinical capability.
• Show initiative, be apt at critical thinking in the theatre environment.
• Have a Current Annual Practising Certificate.
• Be motivated to prioritise quality to your practice.

Responsibilities

• Operate theatre procedures across specialties.
• Provide optimum care to patients within the operating theatres and apply critical thinking.
• Provide appropriate, clear supervision and delegation to enrolled nurses and healthcare assistants.
• Perform delegated patient care tasks within the Theatre department.
• Be available for rostered duties as dictated by Theatre.
• Show accountability for risk management, equipment maintenance and patient safety.
• Be an excellent communicator amongst theatre team and MDT.
• Contribute to a seamless teamwork environment.
