Part of the Hermitage Hotel, Glacier Explorers offers a unique experience in New Zealand. Our guides drive and manoeuvre small passenger boats to take our guests on a fun and informative excursion on the Tasman Lake, interacting around icebergs and up to the mighty terminal face of NZs largest glacier.

Our guides are responsible for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for the area with our guests. No day on the Tasman Lake is ever the same and this offers variety and challenge like no other role.

Responsibilities

Share knowledge and enthusiasm with guests about the Tasman Lake area. Drive and manoeuvre small passenger boats for guest excursions. Engage with guests around icebergs and the glacier terminal face. Ensure guest safety and provide a high level of service throughout tours.

Qualifications

• Role requires a commitment until the end of the season (June 2025)
• NZ drivers license or entitlement to drive in NZ
• Passion for the outdoors and eagerness to learn and step-up
• Ability to manage a group with strong public speaking and communication skills
• Strong sense of responsibility, commitment, and reliability with flexibility to work across different tours and products
• Flexible with a can-do approach and willingness to learn throughout your time with us

To stand out:

• Previous guiding experience
• Previous boating or water sports experience
• Previous first aid experience
• Class 2 and P endorsement
