Part of the Hermitage Hotel, Glacier Explorers offers a unique experience in New Zealand. Our guides drive and manoeuvre small passenger boats to take our guests on a fun and informative excursion on the Tasman Lake, interacting around icebergs and up to the mighty terminal face of NZ’s largest glacier.

Our guides are responsible for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for the area with our guests. No day on the Tasman Lake is ever the same and this offers variety and challenge like no other role.

This is a Fixed Term job role. We are looking for applicants who will be interested to start with our team by September 2024.

What do we need from you?

While previous experience is an advantage, we provide all training to ensure that you are up to speed with our products, our services, our standards, and our expectations.

  • This role requires a commitment until the end of the season (June 2025)
  • NZ driver’s license or entitlement to drive in NZ
  • Passion for the outdoors and eagerness to learn and step-up.
  • The ability to manage a group and strong public speaking and communication skills.
  • A strong sense of responsibility, commitment, and reliability with the flexibility to work across different tours and products.
  • Flexible with a can-do approach and looking to learn throughout your time with us.

To Stand Out

  • Previous guiding experience
  • Previous boating or water sports experience
  • Previous first aid experience
  • Class 2 and P endorsement
