Job summary

A prominent agricultural company in Hawke's Bay is seeking a Terminal Operator to assist with loading and unloading ships and trucks. Responsibilities include sampling, quality testing, maintenance, and operation of forklifts. The ideal candidate will follow safety procedures and hold a valid driver's license. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of ships and trucks.
  • Conduct sampling, quality testing, and blending of commodities.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs of equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene of the site.
  • Complete necessary paperwork.
  • Operate plant/equipment including forklifts.

About the Team

As a Terminal Operator will be responsible for providing support and coordination in day to day terminal activities. Your primary accountabilities will involve loading/unloading ships and road tankers whilst ensuring all quality and health & safety measures are met.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of ships and trucks and transfer of commodity between tanks
  • Sampling, quality testing and blending of commodity product from tankers and tanks
  • Basic maintenance / repair work such as greasing, valve replacement etc
  • Cleaning of tanks and shipping lines and general housekeeping / hygiene of site
  • Completion of paperwork including checklists and other documentation (stock, safety, etc.)
  • Operation of plant / equipment including forklifts

The position works Monday-Friday (40 hours / week). Due to the nature of shipping operations, additional or flexible hours are required at times, including work on Saturdays, on occasion.

Our successful candidate will
  • The ability to follow standard operating procedures / work instructions
  • Capacity to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Hold a valid drivers licence (required)
  • Have experience operating a forklift (preferred)
