Job summary

Discover Tekapo is seeking reliable housekeeping staff for a fixed-term role at Lake Tekapo. You will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with additional hours during busy periods. Full training and clear day-to-day guidance are provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Make beds and prepare bedrooms.
• Clean kitchens, bathrooms and living areas.
• Vacuum, mop, dust and clean windows.
• Replace linen and restock guest supplies.
• Empty rubbish and recycling.
• Report maintenance, damage or health and safety concerns.
• Follow cleaning checklists and property instructions.
• Work closely with housekeeping and office teams.

Looking for a change of scene and the chance to spend a few months living and working in beautiful Lake Tekapo? Discover Tekapo is looking for reliable and hardworking people to join our housekeeping team on a fixed-term basis for three to six months. You will work a minimum of 30 hours per week, with additional hours potentially available during busy periods.

Discover Tekapo is a locally based short-term holiday home rental and management business. We look after a diverse range of properties across Lake Tekapo and work closely with homeowners to provide welcoming, well-presented stays and a consistently high standard of service for our guests.

These roles could suit students on a break, people travelling through New Zealand on a working holiday visa, or anyone looking for short-term work in one of the country's most memorable locations. Shared staff accommodation may be available, subject to availability and agreed terms.

About the Role

Our housekeeping team plays an important part in creating a great experience for guests and homeowners. You will work with a supportive team to prepare holiday homes across Lake Tekapo, ensuring each property is clean, welcoming and ready for arriving guests

Your work will include:

• Making beds and preparing bedrooms
• Cleaning kitchens, bathrooms and living areas
• Vacuuming, mopping, dusting and cleaning windows
• Replacing linen and restocking guest supplies
• Emptying rubbish and recycling
• Reporting maintenance, damage or health and safety concerns
• Following cleaning checklists and property instructions
• Working closely with the housekeeping and office teams to keep the day running smoothly

About You

You do not need commercial cleaning experience, as training will be provided. What matters most is that you are dependable, willing to learn and take pride in doing a job well.

We are looking for people who

• Have a positive and practical attitude
• Are reliable, punctual and able to work well in a team
• Have good attention to detail
• Are physically fit and comfortable with a hands-on role
• Can work efficiently while maintaining high standards
• Communicate clearly and respectfully
• Are available to work weekends and public holidays as rostered
• Ideally you will hold a current driver licence valid for use in New Zealand, but this is not essential
• Are legally entitled to work in New Zealand for the full fixed-term period
